Ghostlight Imaging needed branding that spoke to the essense of their photography.

I helped them translate the unique aesthetic of their photography into a clean, modern brand that captured the mystique inherent in their work.

Ghostlight Imaging is a small photography studio based out of Orlando, Florida that I started as a passion project. I was looking to consolidate all of my photographic endeavors under one single roof and saw this as the perfect opportunity to design a brand that spoke to who I am as an artist.

The name was originally supposed to be New Light Imaging, based on the John Mayer song of a similar name. But better heads prevailed and I decided to go with Ghostlight Imaging as a reference for my love of the theater and my upbringing as a stagehand. As a firm believer in brands being a holistic endeavor, I loved the depth and mystique that the lore behind Ghostlights gave to the brand.

I knew the logo was going to be used primarily as a watermark on the photography I would be producing under Ghostlight. With that in mind, I looked to signatures as a source of inspiration and went with a happy medium between the two.

Bold, minimal, iconic, & etherial. After the logo, I went about designing the web presence. For the website I kept things simple utilizing a monochrome color pallete to allow the photography to shine through. Black, white, and a touch of noise/grain to give some analog texture to everything. I also chose to go with a serif font for the headings to bring a bit of a traditional feel to everything.

Project Outcome

In the end I was able to craft a brand that rang true and authentic to the photographic style and aesthetic of Ghostlight Imaging.

I delivered a full-fledged brand and identity, a responsive website, and some branded tangible items like business cards as well.
